Здание Мэрии Москвы расположено в середине Тверской улицы. Напротив него - установлен памятник Юрию Долгорукому. Изначально это был дворец московского генерал-губернатора. Его построили по проекту М. Ф. Казакова в 1782 году для графа З. Г. Чернышева. На строительство нижних этажей пошет камень, оставшийся при разборе стен Белого города. В 1790 году здание было куплено государством и до 1917 года оно оставалось резиденцией московских генерал-губернаторов.
Сегодня здание покрашено в красный и белый цвета, но изначально его цвет был оранжево-белым. Центральная часть здания выделена портиком с фронтоном и восемью колоннами. Под фронтоном можно увидеть портал, напоминающий триумфальную арку.
Историческое здание XVIII века в 1939 году отодвинули на 13,6 метра вглубь квартала. В 1944—1946 гг. были пристроены два этажа, в 1946 году слева от дома появилась фигурная решетка.

Building of the Mayor’s Office
Building of the Mayor’s Office is situated in the middle of Tverskaya Street. Across the street is the memorial to Yuriy Dolgoruky. The building was first the mansion of the Moscow general-governor. It was built in 1782 as a project of M.F. Kazakov for the Count Z.G. Chernyshyov. The lower historical level of the building was constructed using stone taken during the disassembling of the walls of White City. In 1790 the building was bought by the treasury and it remained the residence of the governor until 1917.
In our days the building is preserved in red and white tones although in the beginning it was orange and white. The central part of the building is divided by an eight-columned portico with a gable. A portal is located underneath the gable, reminiscent of a triumphal arc.
The 18th century historical building in 1939 was moved 13.6 meters deeper into the neighborhood. From 1944 - 1946 it was made two stories, and in 1946 an ironwork gate was installed to the left of the building.
